ALIEN RACES
Who’s to say what’s natural and unnatural?
These are the new alien races introduced in Starlight Nexus that weren’t present or mentioned in the storyline of IcarusCode. However, those races still show up here, so check that page out for further information!
Morphium
Organisms composed of ferrofluid, an advanced nerve net, and 24 independent eyes. While normally an amorphous blob, by using a magnetic field, it is able to take other forms. When magnets are embedded into computer systems that regulate their polarities, the Morphium can not only retain previous forms taken, but also contort themselves into even more advanced forms as long as it can be achieved using the mass of ferrofluid present. This, combined with their natural color-changing ability and ability to harden themselves, makes them very adept assassins. Curiously, when multiple Morphium fuse together to increase their collective mass, they can split apart and still retain their individual identities. They are surprisingly intelligent despite not having a brain, leading to a similar case as the Runéans where the way their sentience is maintained remains a mystery.
Primordial Gatekeepers
No known records found. Rumors and scraps found across the galaxy mention tales of worshipers of the Celestials, primordial beings rarely seen yet which appeared to be more common long, long ago. The Primordial Gatekeepers, as they have unofficially been called, guard the remnants that may have once belonged to Celestials; as a result, fossils, tissues, genetic information, and anything else related to the Celestials are hard to come by. While normally peaceful, if one steps too close to any territory deemed by them to be sacred land, they will unleash an onslaught that rivals even the strongest armies in the galaxy. Quick and precise movements, whip-like swords, and Vector energy consume any threat that crosses their path. Do they desire the Celestials' power for themselves, or are they ensuring that it doesn't fall into the wrong hands? As they never speak, we may never know.
Slagulate
This extraterrestrial entity somewhat resembles a cross between frogs and slugs. On their home planet of Snaeforr, they operate primarily in the art of cuisine and music. Their dishes are well-known and highly sought after across the galaxy, helped by the control of native ingredients by the local crime syndicate Marsh Legion run by Grendilorr Hahn. The marshy and swampy terrain gets few off-world visitors despite their products’ popularity, though the Norrgal Liberation Festival draws many visitors who desire to see the planet’s experienced musicians in-person. This brings in a ton of cash that props up Slagulate society, as they operate outside of Stellar Concord law as a neutral state of sorts.
Tholoth
An insect-like race that use their high intellect, mobility, and survivability in harsh conditions to their advantage. They are extremely adept with technology and also can shut off pain sensations at will, allowing them to fight well past a normal organism's limit. The Tholoths are a war-driven species that place great importance on conquering; they believe that the more they conquer, the higher their standing in the afterlife. The harsh nature of their homeworld Arbonica is perhaps the origin of this culture. Despite the planet’s idyllic appearance, the flora and fauna that reside in both the jungles and skies are reason enough to become this battle-hardened. Advanced weapons and armor are commonplace, and it is not rare to see Tholoths with machinery and gear that allow them to survive in harsh environments that would otherwise prove fatal to them. Their culture has little room for companionship; if two individuals of the opposite sex are evenly matched in battle, they are determined to be ideal mates. After having children, they go their separate ways and the young are left to fend for themselves.
Ventrifuse
A mysterious species who integrate their organic brain and nervous system into various mechanical forms. Each individual tends to vary due to their preferences in robotics in addition to their most important ritual: wearing the face of a hunt that symbolizes their dominion over nature. Because of this culture of extensive modification, their true appearance outside of their brain is unknown, though most opt for modifications in the form of a biped draped in black coat-like attire. The Ventrifuse typically keep to themselves, but for more prolific members of the species, a badge of honor is being allowed to travel off-world and hunt the apex species of other planets. However, they have their limits; it is generally frowned upon to hunt and wear the face of an animal with high intelligence.
